FOR CARDIFF ASKS VISITORS TO FOLLOW #THEDAFFTRAIL
From Tuesday 26 February, FOR Cardiff will float giant daffodils across the city centre gearing up ahead of St David’s Day on 1 March.
The iconic symbols of Welshness are six metres in diameter and will float up to 60 metres in the sky. They will appear at 15 iconic locations including Cardiff Arms Park, City Hall and Callaghan Square, before the unusual floral display makes a budding finale on St David’s Day.
Each morning #TheDaffTrail will pop up in two surprise locations before heading to their next locations for the afternoon. People will need to be quick to spot them.
Shoppers, businesses and workers can follow #TheDaffTrail map online at www.forcardiff.com to find all 15 locations before St David’s Day on 1 March.
Adrian Field, FOR Cardiff Executive Director said: “FOR Cardiff wanted to ensure this year’s St David’s Day was exceptional after the ‘Beast from the East’ hit Wales last year and called off many St David’s Day celebrations in the city.
“We chose the daffodil because not only is it a culturally significant emblem, but they are colourful and bright – the perfect flower to brighten up the skies. We encourage visitors and residents of Cardiff to follow #TheDaffTrail and explore Cardiff whilst visiting the wonderful shops and restaurants that the city has to offer along the route.”
Jamie Muir, Stadium Manager at Cardiff Blues said: ‘FOR Cardiff approached us because they wanted The Daff Trail to showcase some of the most iconic venues in the city. We very much hope the trail helps visitors celebrate St David’s Day in style.”
#TheDaffTrail begins on Tuesday 26 February and will culminate with a spectacular display on St David’s Day, Friday 1 March.
